12 Cologne Graduate School PhD Scholarships for International Students in Germany, 2018

High flying students holding a Master’s degree or German diploma in Economics, Management, and Social Sciences are invited to submit their application for the Cologne Graduate School Ph.D. Scholarships for international students. The Cologne Graduate School in Management, Social Sciences and Economics is calling for applications from 12 candidates wishing to enroll for a PhD degree program in Germany by 2018.

The program will be starting in October 2018. In the first year of the program, students will be required to participate in courses on multidisciplinary methods and theories and on courses that are subject-specific.

The University of Cologne is located in Cologne, Germany and it is believed to be the sixth university founded in Central Europe. Although the university was closed in 1798, it was reopened in 1919. With a student population of more than 48,000, the university is one of the largest in Germany.

Application deadline: The deadline for the Cologne Graduate School student grants is March 31, 2018

Course Level: The scholarship is open to candidates who wish to pursue a Ph.D. degree program

Scholarship award: Successful applicants will receive grants for school worth EUR 1,200 per month. The grant is tax-free and will run for a maximum period of 3 years. The scholarship will begin when the program starts in October 2018.

Nationality/Eligible country: This student grant is open to international students from every country

Number of scholarship: The scholarship will be available for up to 10-12 candidates

Entrance requirement: The following requirement must be met if applicants are to be eligible for the scholarship;

  • Candidates must be close to finishing their Master’s degree
  • They must rank as one of the top 10% graduates in their faculty
  • Candidates must be proficient in the speaking and writing of English. Applicants from countries where English is not the first language will be required to present evidence of their proficiency in English at the level mandated by the institution.

Application for Cologne Graduate School Ph.D. Scholarship is open from December 15 and closes on March 31, 2018. It is available only online. Candidates can access the application forms and in-depth information about all necessary documents at www.cgs.uni-koeln.de/admission/. Candidates are expected to indicate the key research area of their choice and suggest likely supervisors from the faculty. Paper applications will be disregarded.
